Fiction in a Flash #22

We all have grandiose ideas for the next best seller. However big those ideas are sometimes they just need a kick start. Sometimes there’s no great thing lurking in the shadows screaming “Write me!” but instead just a short simple scene that plays in the mind. The idea behind flash fiction is to write something out using only so many words.

So here’s the challenge: 70 word fiction in a flash. You never know what you might scratch out of your head.

Anyone interested in adding their own work can do so in the comment section. We look forward to seeing what each and every creative mind can come up with. The requirements are simple, all we ask for is a plot in only 70 words that includes the item(s) below, no more no less. And believe me, that’s not as easy as it sounds.

Here are your items: a muse and an author

Connected Creativity

It’s been awhile since we participated in any group writing projects, but Liz Strauss has one running that inspired a few words. This isn’t the first time she’s run a 25 Words project, but for some reason the subject for this one touched something in the creativity well and brought to the surface.

Read, Enjoy, Think - and then share those thoughts with someone else!

Tapestry

Each person
A thread, a color
In a tapestry woven.

Weaving, blending
Single threads entwined

Each thread a place
As patterns grow
To beauty reveal.

Creative Renewal

Filed under: Creative Writing, Everyday Inspiration, Getting Inspired — ShadowsEdge @ 1:53 pm

Real life has been keeping my level of creativity low for awhile.  Recently though, some of my creativity has been returning in the form of short poems.  I’ve written 4 poems in 3 days.   These aren’t great and wonderful poems - they’re just expressions of my thoughts and feelings.  They’re also first drafts.  But I’m writing them and that - really - is the important thing.  I’ve started posting them over at The ShadowsEdge

I’m writing them for me… and I’m writing for some of my stories as well.   Just a little bit at a time. Just a few minutes of creativity carved out of my day - out of the daily routine of non-creative activities.

And you know something? Its the creative efforts that are encouraging me to get through the rest of the day.

The adventure, the fun, of being creative is the reward I’m treating myself to for getting through the rest.  So reward yourself - treat yourself to some play time.
